Lazy Magnolia Brewing Co., Mississippi's only commercial microbrew, started bottling last month.
...
For now, it's one flavor, the flagship Southern Pecan. Within four years, all varieties will show up in bottles.

Hard Rock Cafe Hates Beer

Sadly...this post from author Lynn Hoffman about his visit to the Mississippi Coast does speak to the [lack of] knowledge of SOME of those that serve beer in this state.

Hard Rock Cafe Hates Beer

Or at least so it seems. On a recent visit to a Hard Rock in Gulfport, Mississippi, a guest ordered a bottle of Heineken ($5.29) and a glass. The glass, when it was delivered smelled like a newly-dosed swimming pool. The waitress sympathized with the guest's plight and whisked the bleachy-glass away only to come back in a few minutes to say "that's the chemical they use to rinse the glasses". Thanks. We knew that.

Personally, I am amazed at the number of blank, confused stares I get in the Jackson metro area when I specifically request a non-chilled/non-frosted glass. They cannot seem to imagine that someone might want to TASTE the beer instead of having their taste buds shocked by a partially frozen beer.

Recently, 0ne Jackson waiter (at a County-line road, big-chain, steak restaurant) must have been confused when I asked for a non-chilled glass...so, the waiter actually brought me a room temperature beer (glass AND beer). Not surprisingly , this was the same place where a bartender answered my "Do you serve Lazy Magnolia?" with a "What's that?".

Founded in September of 2003, Lazy Magnolia is Mississippi's first Brewery offering locally brewed beer to Mississippians and visitors to our state at all of their favorite restaurants. Located in the Bootleg capital of

We make beer, which is what we know best, and we let the professionals make the food. The result is that you get to enjoy our fabulous beer and the fabulous food of Mississippi all at the same time.
