2009 Senate Bill 2017 - Legalizing Gourmet Beers in Mississippi

A new bill was introduced today, the first day of Mississippi's 2009 Legislative session, to bring gourmet beers to Mississippi.

Senate Bill 2017
Description: Beer; increase the amount of alcohol that it may contain from 5% by weight to 17% 8% by weight.

Principal Author: Senator David Baria

Title: AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 67-3-3, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO INCREASE THE PERMISSIBLE ALCOHOLIC CONTENT OF BEER FROM 5% OF ALCOHOL BY WEIGHT TO 17% 8% OF ALCOHOL BY WEIGHT;

Congrats on getting this introduced and good luck. Maybe Mississippi can lead the way in the deep south with a 21% abv limit for craft beer. That'll be much better for brewers than what Alabama is considering.
